The Winning Word

I'm not sure where this one popped into my mind from; one of those unknown results from a stray thought.

The Winning Word

Lose your cool, lose your cause;
Before you speak, take a pause.

Things I Have Learned

Here are some great thoughts from a friend.

Things I Have Learned
by H. L. Gradowith

I have learned that Jesus loves me.

I have learned that some people in this world do not love Jesus.

I have learned that some people in this world do not love me.

I have learned that not everything that glitters is gold.

I have learned that gold is, largely, too expensive for me.

I have learned that difficult things are usually better in the end than easy things.

I have learned that good intentions, by themselves, are not so good.

I have learned that some people are just plain mean.

I have learned that some people are just ignorant.

I have learned that some people are just confused -– give them time.

I have learned that “somebody” is usually me.

I have learned that nothing in this world lasts forever.

I have learned that there is just no pleasing some people.

I have learned that I do not care whether I please some people or not.

I have learned that the truly important things pertain to the next life.

I have learned that there is no shortage of good ideas.

I have learned that there is a great shortage of folks to put good ideas to work.

I have learned that life is short and hard.

I have learned that life is long and hard.

I have learned that you only get one chance in this life.

I have learned that one chance is probably about all we can stand.

I have learned that Jesus loves me.

Begin Again

by J. Randal Matheny

If you begin again with God, you find
that failure's never fatal, final, nor blind.

-
Back with a couplet today. From this little quote by an unknown source: "Failure is never final for those who begin again with God." Okay, so I souped it up a little. Poetic license.

The point is, failure is never the end. God offers repentance, a new start, a new life, a new opportunity. It's up to us to take advantage of it. Today!

Birthday luncheon

It's not that we go out so much, but the birthday boy or girl can choose the meal. Joel's birthday was June 12, Leila's the 16th, so they wanted an all-you-can-eat, bring it to the table meat lunch. This would-be vegetarian suffered for it.

Joel turned 17, Leila 11.

The couple is Otavio and Valeria, from the SJC church, and his mother Nadima. Good friends to share a happy moment.

Where'd the month go?

I blinked and June has almost slipped by me. Next weekend I'm off to Fortaleza for a seminar. Last Saturday, I spent most of the day in Sao Paulo in a meeting. Thursday was a holiday, so lots of people took off Friday and made it a long weekend.

My day today was like that, too. It's 8 p.m., and I think it ought to be 3:00. Time to wrap up.
