Just Now

There's no time like the present, don't we say?
Though, truly, there's no moment but today.

----
Earlier, I was writing a post on discipline for a forum and then turning that into an article for Forthright Magazine. At one point I wrote, "No time like the present, don't we say? Actually, there is no time BUT the present." Hmm, then I felt a couplet coming on!

Make today the day you get started with whatever it is you need to do to put yourself within the will of God.

Blessings,

Randal

Quirky intros

I like to offer quirky, interesting intros when I jump into a forum or site. Here's one I did today for a Christian message forum, along with a couplet.

Since 1984 Brazil has claimed my family and me, as I serve the Lord through the written, spoken, and virtual word. The tropical heat has me sweating, but otherwise I'm cool, calm, and collected (but my desk is a mess).

I've come to join your ranks and pleasant chat,
And search with you for holy Ararat.

Big Goliath

Author John Maxwell* wrote, "When Goliath came up against the Israelites, the soldiers all thought, He's so big we can never kill him. David looked at the same giant and thought, He's so big I can't miss."

You may have a Goliath staring down at you. What are you thinking?

White bread religion

Picked this up off a quote list today.

In the "dynamic" religion that we are being promised for tomorrow, no ascetic discipline or special humbleness will any longer be required. It will be a hot-water bottle kind of piety with none of that gritty old morality it in. It will be a brand of faith that has been synthesized, vitaminized, homogenized, and capsulized, and it will be as ready-made for effortless consumption as that magically bleached, cottony, crustless, already sliced white bread which is the symbol of the modern American's massive superiority over the pagan bushwhacker. —Curtis Cate, God and Success
I'll bet it was the Wonderbread company that coined the phrase, "best thing since sliced bread."

You call this entertainment

Today's entertainment headlines off the CNN Portuguese website (translated by yours truly):

* Michael Jackson causes debate with revelations about his life

* Beatles producer is freed after paying bail of 1 million dollars

* Courtney Love is detained on deplaning in London.

This is entertainment? You call this entertainment?

With such entertaining news, you think I clicked on the "More" button?
