Ararat, anyone?

I'm not terribly impressed by the search for Noah's ark. Yes, I believe it happened, according to the biblical account. But I doubt you'll find remains of it after so many years. And even if you did, you probably wouldn't have any way of verifying what it was.

Maybe it's the same desire to find "proof" that led some to see a miracle in a cloth purporting to be Jesus' grave clothes. My faith rests on reasonable grounds, and even available proofs, so I don't feel a need to go scrounging around Red Sea bottoms or peeking at Ararat's slopes from a satellite.

Though the view is interesting.

Cell phones

Seems like people change cell phones around here more often than their socks. Got another notice today from a friend. Of course, he has changed jobs recently.

And I can't find my mechanipencil to write it down in my
address book.

You think I'm going to write a cell phone number down in ink?

Am still resisting getting my own cell phone. Why do I want to spoil my meals with one?

End of history? Oops! maybe I was premature.

http://zenit.org

Remember the guy who, after the fall of the Berlin wall, declared the end of history? Well, now he's backtracking a bit. Zenit has an interview with him in their Weekly News Analysis for Sept. 7. I can't link to it since they use frames, but you'll find it.

Is he for real, or just out to make a buck?

Words are power

I refuse to denigrate the power of words. Even the most contradictory, false, or frivolous words have such a power as to call attention to the life behind them, be it hypocritical or superficial or vain. Words are not cheap. They may be plenteous, but each one is sharp. Popular culture tells us words mean little. Don't you believe it. Words are power.
