Today's lines were written for a challenge on a poetry site. (I get great ideas there.) This quatrain is my attempt to describe a bit of what Paul had to say about the inner struggle in Romans 7. Have you read it lately?

Women, though, descended from the stars.

You've heard the name of the book, Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus? Well, the couplet above is my twist. And you can read that second line in two ways. The positive is obvious; the, er, um, other means the women are a lot farther out than men are.

The human body rightly formed
for such a habitat
as earth, by ample clothing warmed,
where God the soul begat;

The life, the spirit -- movement more
than muscled neurons make,
A conscious existential core
Alive, aware, awake;

The soul in God's own image made,
Eternal in its reach;
This human trio, single braid
of strands, and precious each.

This piece was a quick job done for a poetry challenge. Needs some more work, but it wasn't bad for a 15-minute quickie. At least, I thought so. Whadda you think?

Resentment quickly kills love's finer skills,
And bitterness provokes the coldest chills.

Thursday is departure date for Brazil. Friday night we will sleep in our own beds. This has been one of our best, most encouraging trips back to the U.S., but "there's no place like home."
