You've heard the name of the book, Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus? Well, the couplet above is my twist. And you can read that second line in two ways. The positive is obvious; the, er, um, other means the women are a lot farther out than men are.

The human body rightly formed
for such a habitat
as earth, by ample clothing warmed,
where God the soul begat;

The life, the spirit -- movement more
than muscled neurons make,
A conscious existential core
Alive, aware, awake;

The soul in God's own image made,
Eternal in its reach;
This human trio, single braid
of strands, and precious each.

This piece was a quick job done for a poetry challenge. Needs some more work, but it wasn't bad for a 15-minute quickie. At least, I thought so. Whadda you think?

Well, it was a tad cold since the heater in the water bed had gotten disconnected a few days ago when a friend was doing some wiring in our absence. But it felt great after being away from home for six weeks. Yes, you can tell it here and on my other sites and lists, but I'll try to make up for it.

Vicki and Leila are off to the monthly ladies' meeting this afternoon, the boys just had to go play basketball (they went yesterday, too), and I came to the office on a holiday weekend (Nov. 15, Proclamation of the Republic) to catch up on email and see if everything was still in its place.

This trip to the U.S. was upbeat, just terrific. More on that later, if I don't get caught up in my work before . . .

Thursday is departure date for Brazil. Friday night we will sleep in our own beds. This has been one of our best, most encouraging trips back to the U.S., but "there's no place like home."
